Posted July 29, 2018 07:25:58Lake Union publisher Mark Parnell is angry that a new book he co-authored about the world’s largest freshwater lake is selling out of print.
Key points:”You can make this shit up” was published in 2015The book has sold out of the original 200 copiesThe book was written by Parnells son, Mark Pannell”You’re not going to get the same level of attention from the press,” Parnels son said.
“The thing is, if you’ve got a book that’s a really good book, it’s going to sell out.
You’ve got to sell it.
If you have something that’s going, it may not get a lot of attention.”
Mr Parnll said the “naked” images featured in the book were the result of “the worst possible thing that could happen”.
“The image on the cover of the book was the naked body of a man.
I don’t know how much money they made off that, but that’s how much they made,” he said.”
The idea that you can’t get that kind of attention is really bad.
I think it’s really disrespectful to the book, really.”‘
You can be naked, but it doesn’t count’Mr Pannells son said the image of the naked man was “pretty awful”.
“I’ve never seen that before,” he explained.
“You have to understand, there’s a lot more to life than just being naked, because it’s not that simple.”
When I first got this book, the word naked was not even in the title, it was in the first paragraph, the last paragraph.
“It’s very difficult to explain, but the book is about the life of a lake, and a lot goes on there.”
He said the book’s focus was on the people who live and work on the lake, not on the images themselves.
“I’m a really hard-nosed guy, I’ve got my own little life and I want to tell that story, but I also want to show that people can live in a very different way and that’s why I wanted to tell the story in a book,” he told ABC Radio Adelaide.
“And if you’re going to do that in a text, that text is going to be more or less stripped down and just a few lines of text.”
Mark Parnall’s book ‘You Can’t Make This Shit Up’ was published by Lake Union in 2015.
Mr Pankar said he was proud of the work the book received, and was confident the image would get the “mainstream media attention” it deserved.
“We did it the right way.
It was honest, we talked to people about it and we told people that, and it was the right book for the right people,” he noted.”
If you’re doing that in the mainstream press, I think they’re going, ‘oh, this is really weird, this’s a bit of a shocker’.”
