Amazon has announced plans to launch a new digital publishing platform for writers and publishers, offering tools to help them build their work and expand their audience.
In an interview with Fortune, founder and CEO Jeff Bezos revealed that the company is in discussions with several publishing houses about a possible merger with them.
The announcement comes after Amazon announced plans in January to acquire the publisher-developer Hachette Book Group, and the company has also recently acquired the publishing business The Hachettes.
Bezos said in January that Amazon would be looking to merge with some of its existing publishing partners.
The announcement came after Hachemews decision to stop publishing its books.
According to the new platform, Amazon is looking to create its own content marketplace, which would offer a unified experience across a wide variety of publishers, including Amazon, Amazon Prime, Barnes & Noble, Apple and other traditional booksellers.
Bezos, who has been the CEO of the company since 2007, said in the interview that Amazon will offer a variety of “new platforms for authors to reach new audiences and build new relationships with publishers.”
In a blog post announcing the news, Bezos said that Amazon has been working with several of its traditional book publishers to create the new digital platform.
The platform will be a “platform that gives authors access to a wide range of publishers in a way that hasn’t been possible before,” he wrote.
“This will allow publishers to offer new ways to support authors, as well as new ways for publishers to grow their business.””
The announcement of the new service comes after an initial push by Amazon in January. “

Amazon announced it would begin offering its authors a new book promotion program, which allows readers to purchase a free copy of a new Kindle book on Amazon’s website.
Authors who have already purchased the book will receive a digital copy for free, with no additional costs.
Amazon also said it was going to offer publishers additional promotional offers, such as new eBook deals.
But the company didn’t provide details on how it planned to use these new programs.
In February, Amazon said it would start offering publishers additional incentives for using its platform.
It said it planned on offering “a series of new incentives and offers” to publishers that are “highly successful” on Amazon.
The new rewards program will be announced in coming months.
“We want to help you find the right publishing partner and get your book out there to the world,” Bezos wrote in a blog.
“As we continue to build this new digital offering, we’ll keep you posted as more details become available.”
